Chart-topping Carmarthenshire Council

Today's Wales on Sunday reports on the '56 Welsh Council employees taking home six figure salaries' .

Carmarthenshire Council, making cuts of £16m over the next three years, tops the chart. (and apparently there's no magic money tree either).

Update 21st May; The Chief Executive of Cardiff Council (pictured in centre) announced his resignation today and revealed his new job with accountancy firm, Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

The money tree link states "In an exclusive interview with Journal news editor Nick Parry" but I see not a single question just bald statements; if they made all the top guys in the councilredundant they could save £3 million over three years

I am confused as to why regeneration and leisure Dave Gilbert gets more that Rob Sully who is responsible for the education and Children's Department!!! Amazing grazing for the wonderful Chief, Dave, Bruce, Richard and Roger!!!

The description for Newport Chief is. "Managing Director" so does that mean ours is called chief to ensure we still think we are receiving a service????

A little bemused as these people never seem to contact and deal with the people!! I have tried!!! Saying that I'm sure they have plenty to deal with especially seeing some of the ombudsman reports !!

This is interesting. Tax payers alliance said that ccc has 12 employees earning over 100k, but it's actually six? Did we lose 50% overnight or did we all trust the tax payers alliance to be the source of all truth?

According to the Council's published accounts there were a total of 11 employees earning over £100,000 with one leaving in that year (2011/12), there were a further three on a salary scale between £95,000 to £99,999 - add on the pension contributions and this brings these figures to over £100,000.
I think the Taxpayers' Alliance are fairly near the mark, and presumably got the data directly from the council.

Exit packages rose from £1.82m in 2010/11 to £3.61m in 2011/2012 which included £829,002 for 11 staff earning between £60,000 and £100,000.

The 74 Councillors took £1,361,000 in 2011/12 which included £47,663 in expenses.

All the figures for 2012/2013 are not of course available yet.

the council account will show the total salaries + the employer pension contributions and expenses, thats what several people earning £85-90K could show u as more than 100K on the books.

so 6 people earn over 100K (before tax) in cash terms, while 12 earn 100K if you include employer pension contributions and expenses.

Seems we have a rhetorical case of the 7 dwarfs....... No female to put at the top for Snow White though???

We obviously have to add an assistant CEO to get the full 7!!

Chauvinism within the council hierarchy maybe?no females as directors..... Very interesting in the 21st Century!!

These crazy salaries mean that some Chief Executives earn £17,000 a month!
I'm willing to offer my services for 2 weeks = £8500 This will allow me to: pay off my car loan, buy a new shed, pay my utility bills before the reminder letters and take my 4 children on a luxury Greek holiday (all inclusive) for 10 days.
