Best Politics Blog - Wales Blog Awards 2011!

I am really surprised and delighted that this blog won the Best Politics Blog category at the Wales Blog Awards last night in Cardiff. It was great to see all blogging in Wales celebrated and recognised - all brilliant! Good to meet fellow bloggers from Radical Wales too. Many thanks to those who nominated me and everyone who has supported this blog. By the way I won a £100 M & S voucher and, best of all, a year's subscription to Private Eye!
Link to all the winners here

I also wrote a short piece for the @ITVWales blog;  http://itvwalesblog.com/2011/10/28/wales-blog-awards-caebrwyn-on-winning-best-political-blog/

S & L Associates sponsored the Political Blog category, here's their comments;
“All blogs have displayed dedication to their causes, ensuring the public are made aware of the issues through the blogging medium. However, one stands out in its focus and tenacity in challenging the powers that be. The blog in question has been recognised in the national press, and the blogger’s dedication is such that their actions in pursuing the cause have resulted in their own freedom being denied. Therefore, the winner of the best political blog is Jacqui Thompson – Carmarthenshire Planning.”

Well deserved. I think it is obvious to all who read your blog that you are a person who wishes above all else to have a transparent, open, honest and accountable local authority. You work hard to uncover unscrupulous politics and indeed, succeed. If there were awards given for most ethical and transparent local councils, Carmarthen would come bottom of the pile!

Carmarthen would not come bottom of the pile!!!!

They would not be allowed to enter anything that was measuring relative degrees of democracy.

Did tweet congrats last night, but here is the "formal" one

WELL DONE TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Caebrwyn, and well deserved, and an important award not just for you but for the principle of accountability in public office: let's hope the bullying councillors in Camarthen and elsewhere take a moment to consider that this award reflects the anger felt by all decent people that such appalling behaviour should be sanctioned by our elected representatives.

Congratulations on winning this award. I'm not at all surprised you've won, as to produce such a consistently credible and well researched blog takes a lot of dedication. Well done!!

Yes Jaqui,I too am delighted but not surprised.Your committment to exposing the lack of democracy in Carmarthen council is to be greatly applauded.The fact that you have been awarded "Best Political Blog"in Wales is testament to the thoroughness of your research and total credibility of your reporting.The latter I might add could never be attributed to Carmarthen Council.You have been stoic in the face of the treatment meted out to you and for that alone all respect to you.The people of Carmarthen,Wales and indeed further afield will surely be heartened by the recognition of your dedication to truth and honesty in public office.Long may you continue.

Well done Jacqui! Best blog, and most arrested blogger!

My interest was such that I didn't know I'd been put forward for weeks, then didn't realise the winners had been chosen. So, sorry for the slight delay in congratulation!

But will it change Carms? Will it 'eck as like.

YOur blog is obviously well read and hopefully it will encourage people to question Council decisions.
